Hitting the Ground Running

I can't believe that I haven't posted anything yet this year, but the past two weeks have been really busy. We had 5 doctoral classes going on, including a dissertation class that took 8 hours of my attention every day, as well as a 3-day conference on the weekend. Now that all of that is finished, I'm still emailing back and forth with students regarding their questions and plans for the future. I'm also creating a blog for the dissertation students so that they can share information about the work that they're doing. Hopefully I won't forget anything else that I'm supposed to do...

Tonight I'm going to a birthday party for my friend Corrin at the Pruitts' house. I made a HUGE cake to take with me - it's a 12-inch devil's food chocolate cake with homemade buttercream icing and cocoa powder dusted across the top. I think it's going to taste really good, and I hope that Corrin likes it!!

How was that conference, by the way? Also, let the record show that *ice cream* is the greatest dessert ever made. It's cream. And it ice. But when you put them together... words cannot describe!
