There's an old tradition in my family from long before I was born. It often draws us together, and we've had many hours of fun as a result of it.
Sometimes we take it too seriously...and sometimes we don't...
It's Georgia Bulldogs football. I love how it pulls complete strangers together in our state, as well as in other parts of the world. I currently work in St. Louis, Missouri, but part of the reason my boss hired me was because I was a Dawgs fan. (Seriously.) I've had intense conversations on game day with complete strangers in the grocery line, where we debated the Dawgs' chances, or celebrated a victory.
My sister married a GA Tech guy, but he usually knows not to talk trash about the Dawgs, so we forgave her for it.
Every self-respecting little girl in Georgia has a picture of herself in a cheerleader outfit with a big black G on the front...
And there's no day in the year better than opening day.
Around here, we bleed red and black. It's a beautiful thing.
